Cavalry Is FREE! Is Canva Trying to Mog Adobe? | Motion Mondays
Cavalry went free, Canva is quietly building a full creative pipeline, and The Verge declared war on Adobe.
Cavalry went free, Canva is quietly building a full creative pipeline, and The Verge declared war on Adobe.
This week, Cavalry is now completely free for anyone with a Canva account - and it's just one piece of a much bigger story. Canva is quietly assembling a full creative pipeline which also includes Affinity and fresh integrations with Capture One and DaVinci Resolve - completely bypassing the Adobe pipeline. The Verge ran a piece calling this an all-out industry war, but as the long-established force, we wouldn't count Adobe out yet. Also, Andrew Price gave a talk about AI and motion design that's worth watching before jumping into the discourse.
Also this week, Rive has a $10K Impossible UI challenge running, and Webflow dropped a much better Rive integration using GSAP. OpenAI launched Images 2.0 with strong character consistency and layout-aware generation. Blender got two useful plugins: Light Painter and Copy to Autograph. Albert Omoss is launching a beta of ArcBrush, a node-based image editor he's calling a cross between Photoshop and Nuke. Plus a free font manager for Mac, and some incredible work from Colosseum, Believe Studios, and Good Secrets.
