How We Created Tron "Rezzing" Effects in Unreal Engine
Learn how to create Tron-style voxel VFX and motion graphics!
Learn how to create Tron-style voxel VFX and motion graphics!
Step into the grid with Aharon Rabinowitz as he demonstrates how to use Unreal Engine’s Chaos Fracture and Motion Design tools to build dazzling Tron-inspired “rezzing” and “de-rezzing” effects. Animate the build-on of a light cycle or text from cubic elements, then shatter them dynamically.
You’ll also set up glowing materials that react as objects break apart, craft holographic fresnel effects, and animate seamless transitions with just a few keyframes. By the end, you’ll know how to create organic, complex-looking animations quickly and easily.
Note: This tutorial uses the preview version of Unreal Engine 5.7 (publicly available) to access certain features introduced in 5.6 that are still in development.
