Cinema 4D for iPad + AE Gets Real Depth of Field | Motion Mondays

Cinema 4D (and Cinema 4D for iPad!) gets AI-powered 3D generation, After Effects adds real depth of field to its Advanced 3D renderer, and the US Supreme Court says AI cannot hold a copyright.

This week, Maxon gave a glimpse of C4D for iPad while also announcing their partnership with Tencent,, bringing AI text and image-generated 3D models directly into C4D. After Effects' new in-engine depth of field is now in beta and handles overlapping transparency correctly. The Supreme Court's decision to pass on an AI copyright appeal keeps human authorship as the legal standard, which has important implications for creators. LottieFiles now supports direct .AEP file import in the browser, no Bodymovin required.

Also, AlgoMesh dropped a free differential line growth plugin for Cinema 4D. Jlitch is a new glitch and compression artifact plugin for After Effects on AEScripts. FrameRate, the new creator-focused video platform, opened its beta. There’s also a free browser-based procedural texture generator called TextureCreate, a new AI environment assistant for Unreal Engine called Nwiro. Plus Black Math, Animade, and Gorillaz all put out new work worth watching and a student showcase from Giuliana Cascardo completing Premiere for Motion Designers blew us away.
